Number 23: Berlin in holiday focus
Most Christmas markets are free-of-charge by admission. However, in central Berlin, one Christmas market charges an admission fee of 1 Euro. Despite complaints raised by the audacity of charging actual admission to a German Christmas market, the Weihnachtszauber at Berlin’s Gendarmenmarkt collects admission (from mid-afternoons through evenings) to raise money for charities minding the homeless and poor, and to support a number of cultural programs during the festival. With the Deutscher Dom in the background, the tree and ornaments shown above were kindly provided by the city of Zagreb, Croatia.
I made the photo above on 17 December 2012. This post appears on Fotoeins WIDE at fotowide.wordpress.com.
