Fotowide 47: Top view from Singapore’s Ku De Ta Skypark

Marina Bay Sands, The Fullerton, Marina Bay, Singapore

While the hawker centre and food variety are famous throughout the region if not the world, the Asian city-state of Singapore also hints of opulence by day or night. There’s no greater sign of this than a visit to the Marina Bay Sands hotel by the Singapore River. Built on reclaimed land, the hotel and surrounding properties have helped revitalize this part of the waterfront district. A ride on the elevator up to the roof provides an unobstructed view of the city. The photo above is the night view from Ku Dé Ta, SkyPark at the top of Marina Bay Sands, down towards the British colonial Fullerton Hotel next to the Marina Bay Reservoir and Boat Quay.

I made this photo on the rooftop of the Marina Bay Sands in Singapore on 4 July 2012. This post appears on Fotoeins Wide at and is a part of #TPThursday for Budget Travelers Sandbox.

That is a great photo. I myself cannot take good night photos so I am very impressed. Did you have to pay to get onto the Skydeck?

    • Hi and thank you, Jan. The elevator ride up to the Skydeck was free of charge. In the absence of a tripod and depending on your camera, there are some tips and tricks (in a number of articles among many online sources) one can do to try and ensure a night photo is the way you want it. Thanks for stopping by and for your comment!

What a fantastic photo! It’s so crisp and clear. BTW, my family of 5 had to pay US$82/AUD89 to go up to the Skypark since we weren’t dining at any of the restaurants. If we didn’t have the kids along, hubby and I would have enjoyed a romantic night out at Ku De Ta.

    • Hi! That’s interesting; I wonder if their policy has changed, or if somehow I caught going up “for free” on the right day and at the right time. I went up Wednesday early-evening, so perhaps that might explain the lack of charge. But the drinks were pricey, which I expected. 🙂 I agree with you – it’s a great place to relax and unwind up top. Thanks for reading and for your comment!
