Number 21: Heidelberg Herbst next to the Neckar
For my first move outside of Canada, I arrived in late-2001 to Heidelberg, Germany, sight unseen and four phrases to my German vocabulary: good day, thank you, you’re welcome, and goodbye. In quick measure, I lost my heart to Heidelberg, although I’ve yet to buy the T-shirt attesting to that fact. I’ve gone back to my adopted town as much as possible since 2003. Here from the Theodor-Heuss Brücke looking east along the Neckar river are key attractions and highlights including the Altstadt (Old Town), the Alte Brücke (Old Bridge), Schloss Heidelberg (castle ruins), and the Königstuhl hill.
